"It’s been a fantastic collaboration and a very good partnership between my academic teaching and the simulation itself so it was a really nice mixture of the two and it worked very well for me and for my students!"

Dr. Anna Tilba

Overview

Dr. Anna Tilba has been working with Edumundo for over seven years. In this particular module, she was looking for practical exercises for students to “learn by doing”. She used the Emerging Markets Simulation where Student teams manage their own multi-national companies and compete across the BRIC countries to earn revenue and gain market share.

Why did you Consider Business Simulations?

“I’ve been using business simulations, particularly in strategy and international business, ever since I started teaching. I quickly realised this was a niche for me: that I do something innovative, new, and exciting. I like the concept of trying new things and I could see the evolution of the online offering of management simulations.”

HOW EASY WAS IT TO USE THE SIMULATION?

“Edumundo offers training for staff and students. As it was online it was quicker, easier, and more effective. One of the most useful functions was the Helpdesk function. If we had any technical problems or questions, they could immediately get a response from the Edumundo Helpdesk Team. Another innovation I really loved was the welcome video to the students, introducing the simulation. These are all fantastic editions to what is already a really exciting product.”

“The idea of using a simulation was brilliant as I was able to work with other students and carry out a business strategy that has aspects very similar to the current business environment.”

HOW WAS THE SIMULATION ASSESSED?

“The whole assessment is based on the simulation but not their performance in it. They play as a team but the individual report is based on the analysis of their company in the simulation. It involves bringing academic frameworks together with theory and practice.”

WHAT FEEDBACK HAVE YOU RECEIVED FROM YOUR STUDENTS?

“The feedback I received was that this was one of the best modules on the programme. I think students found it incredibly engaging.”
