What is Virtual Placement Simultion

A work placement aims to give students the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in a
real working environment, allowing them to put the theory studied in the classroom, into practice,
and develop personal skills that will enhance your managerial and career potential.
Research shows that students who do a work placement achieve better results, are more 
employable and earn more after graduation!

Problem with the placement opportunities

The problem is that the availability of placement opportunities can be limited, and so finding one
can be increasingly competitive. Some placement providers also demand a greater level of experience for their placement candidates.

The reality of an employer placement – can also sometimes not match the expectations of students
who want to practice, demonstrate and implement the broad range of theoretical topics they’ve
learned throughout their studies, and crucially give them an opportunity to get involved with
senior/strategic/board-level decision making. By having the following in place – students unable to secure an employer placement will still receive an equal (if not better) experience than the students with employer placements.

Overview of virtual placement

• Comprehensive Exposure: Virtual placements through Edumundo provide exposure to various business areas, including Human Resources, Supply Chain, Project Management, Marketing, and Finances. Students gain a holistic understanding of the business environment.
• Real-World Challenges: The simulation mirrors external impacts, ethical dilemmas, and sustainable development goals. It encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Virtual Company Management: Students collaborate in teams, managing a virtual company over weekly or fortnightly cycles. Each round focuses on specific themes related to their company’s operations.

ROLE OF EDUMUNDO

• Our specialists will set up and implement the simulation
• We then join your initial session (via Zoom/Teams etc) to introduce the simulation to the students.
• After 1 or 2 rounds we join again to hold a live Q&A session.
• Our Customer Success Manager sends you personalized emails summarising teams’ activity (to help close the gap between the lowest and highest performing teams).
• At the end of the simulation, we also provide students with certificates, where they can then be endorsed by us if they post it to LinkedIn.
• We also have an Online Helpdesk for all student’s questions.
• For clarity – Edumundo is proposing to take the role of the virtual placement company.

Additional service – provided as part of the Virtual placement experience:

• Introduce the new fortnightly themes and summarise the previous theme live via Zoom.
• Break-out rooms each round for each team x 20 minutes
• Positioning of Edumundo as the company board (Majority shareholder)
• Teams deliver presentations to Edumundo via Zoom

• To track and monitor engagement – and provide feedback
• Attendance monitoring is also provided by Edumundo (relating to your Tier 4/Student route international students and our Sponsor Licence)
• To be jointly agreed on the exact format Edumundo to provide a management summary document to the Programme Management Team
• Provided on a fortnightly basis (each round)
• The exact format to be agreed
