What is EdStacks - Essential Skills?

Students are finding it increasingly difficult to focus and concentrate
on large amounts of information. Generation Z is used to consuming
information digitally and in manageable portions.

Edstacks microlearnings are 20 minute, bite-sized packages of learning
content and activties. When students work with microlearnings,
their engagement and learning ability are 18 percent higher than when
using traditional methods (Parkkonen & Weaver, 2022).

Essential Skills

Why focus on Skills?

In a world where AI puts knowledge at everyone’s fingertips, it’s the skills that set students apart.

Being able to find information is no longer the challenge — it’s knowing how to use it. Skills like critical thinking, digital literacy, and AI-ethics are essential in navigating today’s complex world. And yet, many students graduate without the tools they need to truly succeed — academically, personally, or professionally.

That’s why we’ve collaborated with leading educators and skills experts to create Edstacks: Short, powerful, just-in-time learning modules that focus on the essential skills that matter most in today’s workplace and society.

EdStacks Format

At Edumundo, we developed this suite of Essential Skills microlearnings using the Edstack microlearning format. Each Edstack has a concrete learning outcome and provides an engaging and efficient learning experience.

Edstacks are structured into subject area themes and three levels:
  1. Fundamentals
  2. Proficiency
  3. Expert

Within a theme, Edstacks are stackable, meaning that they are 'bite sized', can be selected in any order and are great for just in time learning.

The foundation of the skillset:

The content of the skillset is validated by two authoritative international frameworks in higher education:

  • The Dublin Descriptors for judgement, communication, and learning skills describe the learning outcomes for studies at universities in Europe.
  • The Inner Development Goals (IDG’s) are a framework of transferable skills for sustainable development related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. They consist of 5 dimensions (being, thinking, relating, collaborating & acting) and 23 skills.

Additionally, the subjects in the set are evidence based.

The levels were established with the descriptions of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Additionally, the levels are aligned with the descriptions of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ).
