Thanks for choosing Edumundo

What happens next?

Thanks for choosing Edumundo Business Simulations within your teaching.
On this page you'll find what to expect prior to, and during the business simulation.

Step 1: Edumundo will send you 6 questions, once confirmed we’ll be able to setup your simulation
  • Student numbers:
    • you may not know the exact numbers yet, but it’s fine to base this on your best forecast at this stage.

  • Number of teams:
    • You are free to decide how many students you would like in each team.
    • If you don’t have a preference – then we would suggest approx. 4 students per team. The reason we recommend 4 students per team – as that too few in a team can mean not enough different viewpoints, whereas too many students per team can lead to some team members getting left out.
    • It’s even possible to have your students taking part as individuals (so no teams), although we would advise against this – as working in teams strongly promotes and helps develop key employability skills.
    • If you already have your students arranged into groups for other activities it’s perfectly fine to stick with the group sizes you already have.
  • Time slot you’d like us to be online to demonstrate the business simulation to your students:
    • A key part of our service offering – is to do a live introductory presentation to your students before they start working in the business simulation.
    • We usually do this online (via MS Teams, Zoom or BB Collaborate, etc.).
If you have a preference of platform – then please set up link and share with us as early as possible. We will then join your link before at the start of the session. If you have no preference of platform then we will send you a Zoom link in advance of the session.
    • If the session is delivered online – then of course it’s perfectly fine to share the Zoom link with your students.
    • As a guide - it’s best to allow 30 minutes for this introduction session.
    • Note: The introduction session will be in your lecture (to all students at the same time), but if you’d like to have introduction presentation in each of your seminar groups – then this can be discussed with your sales consultant (for an additional fee). Alternatively, we can arrange for an introductory video in place of a live presentation which can be played in each of the seminar groups.
    • We’re often asked by our clients to do this introduction session on campus, this can also be discussed for an additional fee.
    • If the session will be on-campus then it’s best to make sure all IT is working correctly before the session – that way Edumundo will join you virtually on the big screen.
    • If you’re running a condensed simulation (e.g. multiple rounds in a single day), then we recommend having us on campus to support the facilitation.

  • Time slot you’d like us to do a live Q&A with your students after 1 or 2 rounds:
    • The same sub-points apply here as to the above point.
    • Of course, if it’s large group – it may be that there are not many students willing to ask questions – in which case we’ll use the time as an opportunity to recap some points covered in the introduction session, as well as going into more detail on additional things to consider in the business simulation.

  • The time you'd like the simulation to start, and the time each round should finish:
    • This is when the calculation of each round's results happens (this will be the same for all teams on the same module: (please let us know the exact dates and times).
    • Usually, if running a business simulation over the weeks within the semester -  the deadline for each round remains open for the entire week, (so whilst the students may have dedicated simulation time e.g. in their seminar/workshop session, they can also get together outside of class to fine-tune their decisions up until the deadline at the end of the week).
    • However it’s also possible to schedule the deadline during the scheduled session (this is useful especially if you prefer to have some immediate reflection on the round during the session).
    • If you’re planning to run the simulation in a compressed format (e.g. on a single day or/week then please consult with us to agree a suitable schedule.
    • Winners Ceremony: - for the final round it can be nice to end the simulation during a workshop/seminar – with the final results immediately visible - so that a winners ceremony can take place.

  • Names of lecturers / teaching staff involved:
    • Licences for teaching staff are provided free of charge.
    • Each tutor/seminar leader will have access to a dashboard which allows visibility of each team’s progress.
    • It’s important we know all the teaching staff involved in the delivery of the course.
Step 2: Edumundo will set up and implement the simulation

Which includes:

  • All business simulation rounds (these are the virtual years) will be prescheduled by Edumundo - exactly at the agreed times/dates.
  •  This means that the simulation will automatically progress from one round to the next, without any involvement needed from you or your teaching staff.
  • Any customisations and tweaks you’ve asked for will also be made during the set up process (by us).
Step 3: Edumundo will send you the welcome package

Which will consist of:

  • Student team login details (one pdf per team).
    • These will be emailed to you as separate documents – which makes it easy to email to the students (or save to your LMS/VLE).
    • If you’d prefer to print out the login details to issue paper copies to students – please let us know (this way we will send all login details as one large pdf document).
    • This also contains a simulation URL link - and quick start guide for the students.
  • Confirmation on the simulation schedule.
    • This will confirm all the agreed details.
  • Lecturer login details.
  • User manuals.
  • Confirmation on the introduction and Q&A dates and time slots.
Step 4: The live simulation demonstration

What to expect?

  • Edumundo to show some slides and demonstrates to the students how to login and start playing the management simulation. 20 minutes + time for questions equals approx. 30 minutes.
Step 5: The live Q&A Session

What to expect?

  • Edumundo to demonstrate how students should analyse their company’s results and answer all students questions.
Step 6: The Simulation Runs

What to expect?

  • Midmail - a summary update halfway through the simulation, consisting of tips and tricks for the lowest performing teams/companies.
  • Endmail – A summary update once the simulation has been finished consisting of the final ranking, the student’s certificates (to share on LinkedIn) and request to fill in a feedback form.
Students have questions outside of the live sessions, what to do?
  • Show where helpdesk can be found: on the simulation login page.
  • All student questsions will be answered within a working day.
  • Alternatively the students can directly contact our helpdesk via email: support@edumundocouk.freshdesk.com
